Method

Cook the sauce

  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it actively bubbles.
  3. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring often, until the peaches have broken down completely and the sauce is thick and glossy.
Blend and finish
  1. Blend the hot sauce until smooth using an immersion blender or regular blender, pausing to scrape down any thicker bits.
  2. Return the blended sauce to the pan and simmer for 5 minutes to reach your desired thick, sticky consistency.
  3. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, stirring until fully incorporated.
Cool and store
  1. Cool the sauce completely, then refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Pro tip: For extra-smooth BBQ sauce, blend while the sauce is hot and then simmer briefly to re-thicken. Store refrigerated in a sealed jar up to 2 weeks; freezing is not recommended for best texture. For a lower-sugar option, reduce brown sugar to 1 tbsp and consider a no-sugar-added ketchup if desired.
